Jack Beecher will describe small business construction programs throughout this region and up the East Coast, as well as new assignments to assist VA hospitals in Virginia and dining hall construction throughout the US. The Norfolk District has succeeded in awarding a high percentage of its obligations to small businesses.

The Army Corps of Engineers is the premier Command in Army in terms of contract awards to Small Businesses owned by Service Disabled Veterans (SDVSBs). From FY04 thru FY11 they have awarded over $3 Billion in this important Small Business category, to include millions of dollars in contracts to SDVSBs located in Virginia, Maryland and in the DC area.  Additional SDVSB opportunities are on the horizon for FY12 and beyond, including opportunities at Arlington National Cemetery and at DoD Bases across the Eastern Seaboard with schools for dependent children that need to be renovated. These opportunities will exceed the $200M mark over the next 5 to 7 years.  Jack Beecher the USACE SDVSB Program Manager will be sharing the USACE SDVSB Success Story as well as these upcoming opportunities at our next meeting on Oct 11th.
